Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about addiction treatment at Virtue Recovery Killeen.

How long does treatment typically last?

Treatment length is individualized and determined by our clinical team in combination with insurance authorization and ongoing assessments. Rather than a fixed timeline, we focus on ensuring each patient receives the right level of care for as long as needed. We also offer a full continuum of outpatient services — IOP, PHP, and OP — so your care continues seamlessly beyond residential treatment.

Does insurance cover addiction treatment?

Most insurance plans cover addiction treatment under mental health parity laws. We accept most major insurance providers including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Optum, United Healthcare, TRICARE, and many others. We offer free, confidential insurance verification — call us to check your benefits.

Do you offer treatment for veterans?

Yes. As a VA Community Care partner located near Fort Cavazos, we specialize in treating veterans dealing with addiction and co-occurring conditions like PTSD. Veterans with VA healthcare benefits may be eligible for covered treatment. Contact your VA coordinator to request a Community Care referral.

What should I bring to treatment?

Bring 7-10 days of comfortable clothing in one suitcase and one carry-on bag. Also bring personal hygiene items, prescription medications in original containers, a photo ID, and your insurance card. Leave valuables at home. We have a donation closet on site if you need additional items.

Can I continue working while in treatment?

Our Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Virtual IOP (VIOP), and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs are designed to allow you to maintain work and family obligations while receiving treatment. Our Virtual IOP lets you attend sessions from home via secure video with the same clinical team.

Can I have my phone during treatment?

During medical detox, phones are not permitted (blackout period for your safety and focus). After detox, you have phone access 24/7 except during programming, group sessions, and off-campus activities. Phone use is a privilege and therapists may adjust access as part of your treatment plan.

When can my family visit?

Visitation is not available during the detox phase. For residential treatment, visiting hours are Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Visitors must be age 13 or older. We also offer family therapy sessions to support your loved ones throughout your recovery.
